Have you ever been to an auction?

Our kids’ school used to have an auction fundraiser and it was run by a real auctioneer so I have the gist. I preferred the silent auction portion of the evening. Raising that paddle is too much attention in a room full of paddle holders.

Were you ever in a school play or concert?

I’m sure I was in the traditional school play while a young tot, the kind where you’re a pilgrim or milk carton or something. I don’t remember though. I do remember a number of concerts — I sang in school choirs so that was my stage time.

In your working life, were you ever rewarded financially for your services apart from your salary?

Not really. I never worked in a field that gave bonuses and my time in ice cream parlors or Subway restaurants was before people tipped there. While I was teaching, though, families would sometimes give me holiday presents.

How are you feeling today?

Relieved. I was tapped for jury duty but when I called the night before they said we didn’t need to report. For several reasons this has greatly uncomplicated my life.

Gratitude:

Weather in the 60s and 70s, catching up on my sleep, kitty snuggles, and shea butter.
