What kind of challenges in WordPress do you prefer?
I lean toward nonfiction language ones. (No, I don’t think that’s a real category, it’s just what I call them in my head.) The ones where you answer questions or write a post using their prompt. I’m impressed by the array of prompts out there for fiction writing or photography too.
If you were to host a challenge, what would it be?
I love a mini-interview so it would definitely be one like this.
Do you miss the ‘Awards’ posts that were very popular years ago?
Yes and no. It was an easy way to find friends of friends, so to speak, and that was a great way to grow connections. At the same time it reached a point where the awards posts were a little like those chain letters people used to drop on you.
Do you think they were a good way to grow your blog followers and get you recognised?
I do think they helped people find one another on WordPress. This is a big platform and it’s easy to get lost.

I was never fond of the awards but I did them out of consideration for those giving them out. I usually featured the giver without passing it on.

That was a diplomatic solution.

It’s interesting other readers had the same reaction. I figured I was being cranky when the awards thing hit wrong but maybe there’s something to it.😂

I think they were a good idea in the beginning, but it just got too much.
