When everything settles down into a dull roar and the exhaustion behind your eyes spills out across the cheekbones it’s time to admit a break is necessary.
I think I often hit this point in September. I’ve rolled myself through the summer then pushed through August and whatever fresh hell back-to-school season brought so there was (is?) an inevitable crash in September. Almost like those back to school summer surveys — how did you spend your summer, what was your favorite pastime, why did/didn’t you work a job — filled with questions about everyday life choices.
The homework that makes you look hard at how you’re living. Unless you just check the boxes and turn it in. Less mental anguish, more ✔️done and ✔️done energy.
Sometimes the win for homework is having the fortitude to complete it at all.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “starts with ‘ho.’” Find a word that begins with the letters “ho” and use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

September is always kind of memorable for me too, but for different reasons. I do believe it’s important to take breaks.

What I remember from my youth is excitement at school starting. As a parent, it was a lot of work. I had to schedule my ME time. “The days are long, but the years are short,” applies to parenting children of any age. Take care!

It surely does. I didn’t understand that saying when the kids were young; it makes so much sense now that they’re young adults.

When you had Gracie, you could have easily said “the dog ate it.”

And that’s an awkward convo I had with 2 teachers over the years…”Listen, I know this sounds made up, but we have this golden and she actually ate it. I have a blog, you can read all about her!”🤣

Ha ha – she always seemed like she could eat anything.
