“Whoop, whoop” worthy right now:
** Things that pop up on my Facebook feed, for oh-so-many reasons. Yesterday it ran the gamut from a Pioneer Woman’s Corn & Cheese Chowder recipe that looks fabulous to this, a HuffPost Entertainment piece about how Selena Gomez shut down her body-shamers. Just…what? Who the &#$% is slamming this 23-year-old for her weight? Maybe that precious soul who believes brutal honesty is the best policy would like to post her own bathing suit photo?
** Merrells. We bought these outstanding water shoes (“amphibious shoes,” as they call them) before our Hawaii trip last month. They were comfortable right out of the box, even for my cranky feet. I used mine for travel, hiking, in the ocean (to protect my feet from jagged rocks or reefs), and during that hike to Queen’s Bath. They have great grip and dried remarkably quickly, even after swimming. Mine are the Merrell All Out Blaze Sieve, but I’ve heard great things about this brand from other Merrell owners so I doubt you can go wrong. They’re not cheap but it’s definitely worth the investment.
** A Mexican restaurant our friends introduced us to named Los Gordos. Oh. My. Gosh. The food is so good it almost makes you cry, and the margaritas are deadly fabulous. They’re made with fresh-squeezed juices (no margarita mix!!) and are simply…ahhhhh. Of course, the same thing that makes them “ahhhhh” is what also makes them deadly, but spending an evening on their patio with good friends, amazing food, and those delicious drinks makes for a wonderful time.
** Skirts that have shorts built into them. Bless her heart, Bear wore a cute one this week that was about two inches shorter in the back. (Ahem.)
** The fact that our kids are old enough to watch Rudy with us over the weekend and that they actually got the message. (Plus neither one of them laughed at their mama’s minor weepiness. That damn movie makes me cry every time.)
** Watching Phoebe, the dog who came to us jumpy and scared and super sensitive, prancing all around the bed as she played joyfully with BrightSide.
