What was your favourite pastime as a child?

My favorite get-your-heart-beating pastime was soccer. My favorite quiet pastime was definitely reading – my mom taught me to love a library. In the summer we’d visit and she’d let me check out an armful of books.

Did you use colouring pencils, fibre tips, or wax crayons for your childhood drawings?

Wax crayons were our go to. I think coloring pencils showed up when I was older and made me feel like a real artist. An aspiration my drawings definitely did not support.

Did you use a paintbox or have a ‘magic’ book where you only needed to brush the page with water?

I think I had one of those magic coloring books where you brushed on water and the colors appeared. Unless I’m just remembering my own kids having them. Either way, very cool science-y stuff! There’s nothing like a painting activity that at its worse will make the surrounding area waterlogged.

What kind of books did you read as a child?

I loved fiction. My childhood memories are trash so I can’t give you any specific examples but I know I was always parked in the library’s fiction section.

Gratitude:

Warm days have started showing up here – I think we have several days expected to be in the 70s this week. The birds are making more of an appearance, the tree in our front yard has begun blooming, and we’re growing ever closer to hummingbird season.
