Regardless of whether you had them or not, can you remember three popular toys from when you were a child?
Hoola hoop, Sorry!, and Twister.
Did you ever want something specific as a child, but never had it?
So you know that thing I’ve mentioned where I have very few tangible memories of my childhood? Trying to remember stuff like this is like trying to grab hold of a cloud.
Do you still have any toys or games from your childhood?
I think I have a pink container somewhere that has a Barbie in it, but my memory box doesn’t really hold toys. (Not my brain, the literal box in my attic.) There’s a book of poetry I wrote for a third grade project, my girl scout sash, yearbooks, and some photo albums from high school and college.
I think I’ve asked this before, but what was your favourite toy as a child?
I seem to remember a Dressy Bessy doll that I liked. I also remember torturing myself playing the board game Operation — those memories are less happy.
Gratitude:
Blue sky, bright green leaves, and the hope that the hummingbird migration will arrive at our home soon.

My memory is like yours too 😅😅😅

I introduced our daughter to Sorry earlier than the lower age limit (because I was tired of losing at Chutes & Ladders) she still routinely beats me at Sorry.

Chutes and Ladders was tortuous. Candyland too. 😖

That big chute was the worst.

Lovely post Laura. I remember Sorry, and my nephews drove us all nuts with Operation!! Thanks for joining in.

Operation came to mind while I was writing this. All I could remember was how I jumped out of my skin every time that harsh buzzer shrieked!

The boys always did it on purpose. One is now an electrical engineer, qualified firework display expert and has done over 1000 parachute jumps for charity!

I hope the hummingbirds arrive soon! We don’t see them here in South Africa but our sunbirds look similar although they are not closely related.
I loved the hoola hoop when I was a kid. I could keep it going for ages. Would not like to try now!

I tried a hoola hoop again while I was teaching and it was silly how quickly it dropped. You’d think now that I have hips it would be easier 😂🤣

I tried it as an adult too and was equally horrified that I could no longer do it!

That’s interesting. I keep talking with people who have a thousand memories from growing up and I have a dozen.
