Is it your birthday today (or a friend, family member, anyone you know?)
Nope, it’s not my birthday and I can’t think of anyone who celebrates that today. Full disclosure though: I’m terrible at remembering birthdays!
What’s the worst part about the festive / holiday season for you?
Forced joviality. Life can be hard and when I’m struggling with stuff it feels overwhelming to be surrounded by an environment screaming JOY and MAGIC and ADORE EVERY MOMENT OF THIS PRECIOUS SEASON THAT YOU’LL NEVER GET BACK. It’s just…a lot, so if I seem measured don’t take it personally.
Do your Decembers have a hot, cold, or moderate climate?
It used to be cold(ish) here but we’ve shifted to a moderate/often warm climate. I remember when my kids were young how unusual a 65 degree Christmas Day was and their delight when they could play with new toys outside. Now we usually have more warm days than not in December.
Would you like to hibernate when it’s cold?
My hibernation instinct is strong in cold weather. A good nap under a cozy throw can save a whole day.
Gratitude:
Our Christmas tree lit up and sparkling always makes me smile. My foot doesn’t hurt as much, both kids (now young adults) will be around for Christmas, and we’re taking a week off after the holiday.

Hi Laura,
thanks for joining in. Nice post and glad your tree is up and sparkling.
Ours is out of the roof and out of the box, but not up yet! We’ll do that at the weekend.
Glad the family are coming over. Have a good one.
