Just plug your nose, it’ll be fine.
This feels like solid life advice for a number of areas. Passing a smelly room in a hotel. Driving by a skunk’s death scene, or maybe one that just had a really bad scare. Having to take a horrible tasting medicine that surely makes me want to vomit.
Plug your nose, keep it moving, hope for the best.
The one area it doesn’t really help is underwater. For some reason when I tell people I don’t love going underwater this is always their answer. And it’s true, I don’t love water going up my nose and yes, plugging my nose does indeed take care of the water flying up it issue, but the underwater glitch is so much more than my nose.
I hate water rushing into my ears and how my eyes feel opened underwater. Plugging my nose won’t do a damn thing about those but I surely say it’s top notch for preventing H2O from shoving it’s way up into my brain.
And on that rather inelegant imagery I shall take my leave.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “plug.” Use it as a noun, use it as a verb, use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

i hate water up my , ears and eyes 💜💜💖

I love swimming underwater, but I won’t open my eyes. I never had an issue with water up my nose, but I do recall earaches from swimmers’ ear. Worst pain ever.

Right?? I was shocked at how painful it was. Took me by surprise too bc I don’t remember having one when I was a kid. Ugh.

A great use of the prompt, Laura. I never liked opening my eyes under water. Since I couldn’t see much I made it a habit to get out from under the water as soon as possible.

This makes perfect sense to me. My hubby & both kids are all water people though and just never understood why I wouldn’t spend hours dunking around in the pool. To each their own was a good life lesson.

The best lesson. 😊

I have loved swimming underwater and watching how the light plays there, but it seems the water irritates my eyes and ears more than it used to. A well-fitting face mask helped some, plus you can see better with a mask. There are cool videos of underwater wonders.

There have been times that were peaceful for sure. My eyes have always been sensitive but I got swimmers ear (or maybe an ear infection?) about ten years back and that sealed the deal on water for me. My brother-in-law just sent us a video of him swimming with sea turtles and it’s gorgeous!

My ears don’t like the water so much anymore either. We gotta take care of ourselves and enjoy the memories, along with those videos.
