Do you prefer bar food, a restaurant, cafe or tea rooms?

A restaurant is my first choice, a cafe would be my second.

Do you always have the same thing, or try something different from time to time?

If we’re still talking about restaurants I like to try something different from time to time but that’s not always possible. Eating gluten free means my selections are usually already limited so I often have a favorite among those. There are less than a handful of restaurants where they can make almost anything on the menu gluten free — being able to choose from an entire menu feels a bit like that Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory scene where the kids rush out into a world made of candy.

No, I’m not being hyperbolic. I could twirl in those restaurants as I sing with joy.

Have you ever had to send something back to the kitchen because it was sub standard?

I’ve done this less than a handful of times. Once when I ordered a burger medium well and that sucker was practically red in the middle. Another time salmon came to the table so room temperature the butter on top would not melt. Those are the only two I can remember.

If you have a complaint, do you make it in writing after you have left, or before you settle your bill?

I haven’t really had anything that serious happen. I like to think I’d handle it up front but I honestly don’t know. Sometimes it’s simpler to leave feedback for after you’ve gone.

Gratitude:

A really cool class session with Jameelah Jones while Seven perched beside me, the hummingbird network spread the word about our feeder, we’ve AT LONG LAST resolved a housing issue, and a really great shea lotion.
