1. I’m not gonna lie, this may be a tough 40 things post to pull out.
2. I’m having the hardest time shaking off this jet lag.
3. We’ve been home almost a week now and I’m still dropping off to sleep while sitting straight up.
4. It’s madness, man. Sheer madness.
5. So I’m trying to hedge my bets and knock a couple of these out on Wednesday night.
6. Why? Partly because I’m zombie-tired but mostly because I’m getting the updated covid vaccine in the morning.
7. Those of you who’ve followed me for a while know how that usually works out.
8. A covid vaccine and flu shot have the same sort of effect on me.
9. Do I want to feel gross for three days?
10. No, definitely not.
11. But do I want to significantly decrease my odds of catching the actual flu or a complicated case of covid?
12. Yes. Definitely yes.
13. Which means Thursday morning I’ll get a bit of science injected into my arm and by the afternoon I’ll feel icky.
14. Definitely puny.
15. Perhaps even a bit miserable.
16. Not something to look forward to but I’m certain staying up to date on my boosters is what made it possible to manage at home when I did catch covid out in the wild.
17. I suppose the up side to doing this while staggeringly jet lagged is tagging out and embracing the couch.
18. We just gonna lie down and sleep it off.
19. I surely hope I sleep it off…
20. The other possibility is awake and miserable but we’re gonna will ourselves right past that and into a nap.
21. Cue Thursday evening and yes, reader, I do indeed feel puny.
22. Sluggish…but with heightened nerve endings.
23. Think sloth with blockhead syndrome mid-electrocution.
24. That might capture it for now until these symptoms will morph again.
25. And no, the napping part didn’t go great.
26. Circumstances conspired against me, dammit.
27. Seven managed to sneak a nap by my knees though.
28. Little bit ‘o fading going on, let’s see if we can knock out the rest of these.
29.
30.
31.
32. And that’s all I’ve got there.
33. What else, what else…
34. I made friends with Mark from IT after wandering wildly off course in a medical facility.
35. You know it’s a time when the kindness of strangers escorts you through back channels to locate a check in desk.
36. I mean, BLESS IT ALL.
37. The tissues are calling.
38. Or maybe the gatorade.
39. Water? Ginger ale? I dunno, man, I just need to hydrate.
40. This one was rough, thanks if you stuck with me to this point. Happy Friday!
Hope you feel better soon my friend

Better to have a bit of down time than a big sick!

Hope you feel better soon! 🌹 Jet lag from Europe always takes a while to go away, and it can’t be easy, dealing with the aftereffects of your shots on top of that. Covid vaccines always give me a sore arm for several days, but like you, I keep up with them, as I’m old and have minor respiratory issues. Never had a flu shot though, because of an egg allergy. Thankfully, the last bout of flu was more than 25 years ago. Hubby gets regular shots, so that probably helps. Seven is a cutie! 🙂
I could only view your 1st and 3rd Instagram embeds. Message from the 2nd one: “Restricted Video. This video is not available in your country.” And further: “We received a legal request to restrict this content. We reviewed it against our policies and conducted a legal and human rights assessment. After the review, we restricted access to the content in the location where it goes against local law. You can learn more about content restrictions in our Transparency Center.” 😲🤔 So of course, I’m now highly curious about it. 😄 Mortgage rates are lower in Canada, but we have similar issues with affordability and availability. They keep talking about building more “affordable” housing, but where is it?

Well that IS interesting. The second video is shared from the MSNBC account. It shows the clip of Arizona’s Representative Grijalva being sworn in 50 days after she was elected into office and her public comments calling out the delay as abuse of power. I’d be very curious to know what triggered the restriction – MSNBC as the source, video from the house floor, or maybe it being about US government in general?
It’s not a video I would have ever thought might be flagged. I’m hearing about more issues now with people accessing social media clips I share but you’re the first person from Canada to say it.

I’ve never seen a restriction like that on Instagram and was shocked by it! 😲 Curiosity got the better of me, so I fired up the VPN, using a U.S. location, and was able to view it that way. WTH is the big deal?! 🤔 And she was absolutely right, IMO. Media censorship is truly disturbing! Once we lose free speech, it’s all downhill from there… Bad enough, we Canadians cannot view any news stories on Facebook. 😫

And, there’s the answer! META has now widened their ban to Instagram, preventing every news outlet worldwide from displaying their posts to Canadians. 🤬

Whoa, I’m really blown away. I hadn’t heard that about the Facebook news restrictions so I guess that would make sense with the Instagram video. 😳😡

Laura, this Laura goes through the same routine with Covid/flu/etc shots as you do. We plan as best as possible to accommodate our ‘puny’ time. And we agree such debilitation is not a valid reason to not vaccinate…Like my double negatives?!?
Hang in there!
BTW: the instagram clips are fantastic. I’ve always said that if anyone watched Sesame Street, even just passively, they’d learn basics without much effort! 😉

We do the hard things because, well, adulting and such. And double negatives really capture the vibe of today. 🤣

The Covid vaccine always tosses me for a while. The Flu is so bad, I don’t even bother. I feel like the only advantage is that I get to choose when I feel like crap.
I hope you’re feeling better soon.

Thanks, Dan. The advantage is definitely in the choice. I make these appointments with my calendar open and it’s always with a 3 day window for feeling gross. I’m optimistic — I feel much less icky this morning. 😊
