“I think I finally found my hallelujah
I’ve been waiting for this moment all my life
Now all my dreams are coming true, yeah
I’ve been waiting for this moment
Feels good to be alive right about now”
Andy Grammar – “Good to be Alive (Hallelujah)”
Oh buddy, I’m gonna wait while you click on that link and dance to some Andy Grammar this morning. Go on, really…this song nails it today.
Enjoyed a little groove there? (STILL haven’t listened? Click on the link, people!)
It’s the first day of school in my county. Can a mama get an amen?
I know there are parents who are Tore Up on the first day of school. They’re mourning the kid time, the summer kick back schedule, the pool and playground outings.
I am not one of those mamas.
I love my chicks, I truly do, but we all agree around here that after eleven weeks at home it’s really time for them to get back. They need time with their friends, activity that stretches their brains…shoot, by now they even need a reason to get out of bed at a decent hour each day.
In a remarkably brief moment of desperate insanity I actually googled North Caroline home schooling last year. If you know me, you know how ridiculous this sounds, but it was a rough patch. (I love you home school folks, yes I do, but I accept my limitations.) But then I realized…if I homeschool these children, they will never go to school again.
I know that doesn’t sound like much of a revelation, but it hit me like a ton of bricks. There may be many bonuses to home schooling, but the fact that we’d be at each others’ throats within a month would be a major downside. So each August I prep them for the Great Exodus Back To School.

“I think I finally found my Hallelujah!”
If you’re reading this after 7:30am U.S. Eastern Standard Time, my chicks have flown the coop. They’re off, with lunches and supplies in hand, to slay dragons and get the Knowledge.
Amen.
Sometimes time apart is crucial for everyone’s sanity. 🙂

Beautiful kids! I homeschooled both of mine for some of their schooling. My daughter was easy going and my son liked a strict schedule. They both went to high school. I have my limits and that was it. Happy school year!

Thank you! I have several friends who have/are in the midst of homeschooling their kids and they love it…one was convinced (before my oldest started school) that I’d be homeschooling before he hit 3rd grade, but it just never seemed right for us. At any rate, Day One was a success so yay!!
