It’s the first day of school in my county.  Can a mama get an amen?

I know there are parents who are Tore Up on the first day of school.  They’re mourning the kid time, the summer kick back schedule, the pool and playground outings.

I am not one of those mamas.

I love my chicks, I truly do, but we all agree around here that after eleven weeks at home it’s really time for them to get back.  They need time with their friends, activity that stretches their brains…shoot, by now they even need a reason to get out of bed at a decent hour each day.

In a remarkably brief moment of desperate insanity I actually googled North Caroline home schooling last year.  If you know me, you know how ridiculous this sounds, but it was a rough patch.  (I love you home school folks, yes I do, but I accept my limitations.)  But then I realized…if I homeschool these children, they will never go to school again.

I know that doesn’t sound like much of a revelation, but it hit me like a ton of bricks.  There may be many bonuses to home schooling, but the fact that we’d be at each others’ throats within a month would be a major downside.  So each August I prep them for the Great Exodus Back To School.
