Half the year is now over. Have you had any memorable highlights in the past six months?
Memorable seems like a loaded word. I caught covid while out of the country and returned early to fight through recovery. I eventually healed from November’s foot surgery. We logged many hours in the car on road trips, all of which went relatively smoothly, and our daughter finished her first year in college.
What are you looking forward to in the coming six months?
September is all about music — we have tickets to see James Taylor at the beginning of the month and are going to a music festival toward the end. Plus the hubby and I have a trip planned for just the two of us later in the fall.
How do you keep cool on a hot day?
Climate control is my first line of defense. If I have to be outside — and again, that would be a worst case scenario kind of situation — shade is critical. Being someplace with breeze is a bonus. Inside or out, keeping a giant cup of ice water by my side is a big part of my strategy to stay cool.
Have you ever danced in the rain?
I have but more in the hey look it’s raining way and not so much an I’M SINGINGGG IN THE RAIN, I’M SINGINGGG IN THE RAIN!!! sort of way. A light sprinkling is cool but soaked to the bone isn’t fun for me.
Gratitude:
People who understand me, people with a weird sense of humor, people who do the next right thing even when it’s hard, and people who are out here living in their truth every day.

on a hot day my mum would drink hot tea, she said that worked. Haven’t figured that one out yet 😂

You know, someone I know swears drinking hot coffee keeps you cool on a summer day. Something about raising your body temperature so there’s less clashing with the outdoor temp? I don’t know, it never made much sense to me🤣

Staying cool can be a challenge for sure. Your ice water method sounds workable.

It’s helpful. Just took one heat stroke episode to make me embrace the importance of water.

James Taylor! I saw him a few times about a million years ago. I bet he’ll come through with a great concert. I’m with you about acknowledging the rain, but not intentionally dancing in it. Your nuance rings true with me.

Thank you , Ally. 🙂 I don’t do a lot of concerts — very few actually, but when a friend brought up James Taylor it struck a chord. I’m guessing it will be great but at the very least it will be a wonderful adventure with friends and sometimes that’s enough.
