Did anyone read you a bedtime story when you were a child?
Probably but I don’t remember it.
Did you read bedtime stories to anyone?
I started babysitting by the time I was twelve so I’ve logged a lot of hours reading bedtime stories. It’s one of my favorite things to do.
Do you prefer to read a book, an ebook/kindle, or audio book?
I prefer to read a book. It’s too easy for me to get distracted while listening to an audio book. I am starting to wonder if an e-reader would be a good idea for travel but I haven’t done too much research on that yet.
What is your favourite fairy tale?
I’ve been thinking and thinking and honestly don’t have one of these. Most of my fairy tale thoughts go something like “well, I like this one…except for that whole problematic ending.”
Gratitude:
Warm slippers, a good lotion, the softest blanket, cozy sweatshirts, and birds at the window feeder.

My mom read us a chapter of the Little House books each night during the school year. Love those books.

I’m like you with the fairy tales, most have tragic endings if you read the real ones and not the disney-fied ones )

Even the Disney-fied ones can be a little challenging though I may be a bit more alert about parent issues since my kids are adopted.

yes and the Grimm’s were warnings to wayward children and very dark

It’s been many years since I read a fairy tale, but didn’t most of them have some bad thing happen in them. Was that some kind of cautionary tale we were supposed to learn from? Nursery rhymes seem to be the same, with cute rhymes, and something bad happening. Weird to think about. 🙂

They did! Some were catastrophic. Most all had some terrible thing going on with the parents — parents were dead or died in front of the kid, one parent died and the stepparent tortured the kid — it was honestly traumatic and made me wonder why we thought they were happy things to read to children. 😳

Yes! Now maybe it was a family name, but Grimm’s Fairy Tales were pretty grim! 🙂
