Smooth sailing, smooth as glass, smooth operator, smooth talker…
Smooth peanut butter — does anyone actually love the chunky kind? — silky smooth, smooth as silk, so smooth it’s groovy…
Some say take the road less traveled. Not a bad plan really, but not one you should embrace without…
aw crap, the metaphor just fell apart because I was thinking “without having some decent shocks because the bumps could get bumpy” except if it’s the road less traveled then wouldn’t it be smooth? No ruts because the masses haven’t worn their patterns into the path, or at the very least fewer ruts than a road traveled by the hordes.
So maybe in the end taking the road less traveled leads to that smooth(er) sailing.
And that’s the end of that for today.
I do not believe I’ve made my high school English teacher particularly proud with this one. Good grief.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “smooth.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

those English teachers are so demanding 🤣🤣

Damn them and their complex grasp of literary themes and high standards on coherent thought.

I think your English teacher would understand stream of consciousness writing goes anywhere it wants. I much prefer chunky peanut butter. My husband much prefers smooth. I guess it’s a texture thing since he does not like coconut and I do.

Interesting! The hubby and I have the same split on coconut & find it interesting I never connected the texture piece in peanut butter.

As I think of it, smooth peanut butter feels too sticky to me, or something like that.

I think your teacher would be happy, if she had an open mind. The road less traveled might be chunky peanut butter.

Now there’s a perspective I hadn’t considered, Dan. Well done.

The teacher may not be proud, but I liked it. Yes, chunky for me.

🙂 Thanks, John. It sounds like we all balance each other out with the chunky/smooth debate.

I much prefer smooth peanut butter over the chunky any day, Laura. I don’t think you have to worry about the English teacher because it’s SoCS, not “let’s all post a perfect piece of writing,” don’t you think?

That’s what we’re gonna lean into, I suppose. Sometimes the SoCS bangs up against my brain a little bit…

Me, I love chunky peanut butter, and so does my husband – I don’t like the mouth-feel of the smooth stuff! My father-in-law used to make his own really rich-coloured peanut butter with deep-roasted peanuts and it always had crunchy chunks of peanuts in it – yum!

Texture is such an interesting thing. I remember trying chunky PB when I was a young adult…maybe it has something to do with what I grew up on.

I like how you used it and your teacher will never know
