Gotta walk the talk, people. I think that may have started as corporate speak but as so many things do it trickled down into real world applications where it was met with a hell yeah.
Similar to the no posers push in the early ’80s, walk the talk is all about words are nice but mean nothing if they’re not backed up with action. It aligns nicely with James Baldwin’s quote “I can’t believe what you say, because I see what you do.”
Don’t give me some big song and dance about loving humanity, we’re all God’s children, be like Jesus then give me “hate the sin, love the sinner.” Choose life, protect life, all life is precious falls flat when you’re coupling it with cutting SNAP benefits and Medicaid coverage while dismantling safety nets that make sure those precious lives can get help with basic needs. Do your words align with your actions? Because I’ll believe your actions every time.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “walk.” Use it any way you’d like. Have fun!

You’re right, it is a song and dance of performative concern. Do the right thing, don’t just jaw about it.

Absolutely. The right thing without fanfare is The Right Thing. Just do it.

Same for the meaningless offers of thoughts and prayers.

Thoughts and prayers will take me out every time. It’s like great, appreciated, NOW WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO HELP??

And it diminishes the value of the expression for those of us that do think and pray.
