It was the best of times, 
it was the worst of times.
A time of funding cuts in healthcare, food assistance, and education.
One of imprisoning activists and manhandling protestors.
A time when BUT ILLEGAL ALIENS slid sideways into 
THOSE PEOPLE...
then landed squarely in the lap 
of anyone not white, male, and Christian.
We are so fucking far from anything close to the best of times
while waiting to see how much further we'll spiral before hitting rock bottom.
