Thank you for sharing this statement. I’m cheering for our neighboring countries and Europe and feeling strangely like an abused partner hoping someone will put her abuser in line. Of course, we have responsibilities to ourselves and to our county.

It is a strange place to be for sure. As someone who’s always been really gung ho about the democratic process it feels bizarre to me to realize that there’s only so much change I can affect and that I need other countries to apply their own pressure from the outside for things to improve here at home.

Desperately. We’re working on it from within; it sounds like other world leaders are positioning their countries to push back and find a new way. It will take all sorts of pressure to shift our country’s trajectory.
