Are you a dog or cat person, or do you prefer no pets or unable to have one for some reason.

At this point, I probably have to say I am both a dog and cat person. I grew up with cats, got my first dog after we were married, went through a long stretch with just dogs and then cats re-entered the picture. At this point, our dogs have all passed on and now our home holds space for two really weird kitties. It’s been a wild ride.

Did you have a pet as a child?

We were a single cat household. Before we had a cat I remember a failed experiment with a hamster, but I was pretty young and don’t remember much about it. My core memories are of our Siamese cat and his loud cries echoing through the house.

Have you ever ridden a horse?

I have but purely on a touristy, recreational level. I will say I’m always acutely aware of the fact that I only have marginal control and if that enormous animal decides they want to do something then I’m pretty much along for the ride. Pun intended.

What was your favourite animal in either a zoo or circus?

The big cats get me every time. Lions, leopards, tigers, panthers — sleek, stunning, and majestic.

Gratitude:

Getting out of my cast/splint and having a little bit more freedom, a snow event that actually brought real live snow and not just ice, the medley of critters eating at our feeders over the last week, an electric blanket, and a good stretch of quiet days.
