John Holton is our host for Writer’s Workshop. Here are this week’s prompts:
- Write a post inspired by the word professional.
- Write a post in exactly eight (8) sentences.
- What food do you have a love-hate relationship with?
- What’s some small thing you recently noticed?
- Tell us about a time you got a great deal on something.
- Tell us about a time you got really sick.
Originally I was going to say fried foods but I think dairy takes the cake as far as love-hate relationships go. Ice cream, fettuccine alfredo, milk, yogurt, butter, coffee with cream, milkshakes, allll the cheeses…I can’t think of a single dairy I don’t love but sadly, the dairy does not love me back.
Don’t get me wrong, it tastes delicious. Heavenly. Life changing even.
But it turns out dairy is a fickle mistress. At least for me.
I don’t remember having issues when I was younger, and thank heavens for that because I highly doubt I would have been compliant with dietary restrictions. Sometime in my forties (I think) things started going sideways when I had too much. It was the biggest of the bummers.
Luckily it’s a sensitivity more than an allergy. A few substitutions like almond creamer for my coffee and cutting back on cow’s milk mostly fix things; then it became a matter of accepting that grabbing that Dairy Queen Blizzard was rolling the dice.
Sometimes it’s worth the price.

I’m sorry that dairy isn’t on the menu for you. I love all type of dairy.

No kidding. I’m lucky mine is relatively mild so eliminating some things lets me enjoy others in moderation. They can have my cheese and butter when they pry it from my cold, dead hands. 😂🤣

I think you can use Lectase tablets- an enzyme that digests Lactose. My aunt uses it when she wants to satisfy her urge of having dairy.

My kryptonite is anything crunchy greasy salty snack carb, such as chips, Cheetos, combos, etc and kicked up a notch if there is a dip involved. My stomach is iron but my body weight responds accordingly. As you said. Sometimes worth it

Oh man, I miss potato chips and dip SO MUCH. Not sure if it’s the fried/greasy part of the chips or the dairy in the dip but my body hates it now. Such a bummer but now I’m thinking it might be worth a small indulgence…
