Not to be dramatic but there may be no greater crime than people who fold down the corner of pages for their bookmarks.
There’s a whole world of options out here — laminated bookmarks with cute sayings or inspirational quotes or sweeping landscapes. Touristy postcards or old birthday cards. Post-it notes come in a rainbow of colors. Shoot, even a good old fashioned 4″x6″ photo makes an excellent bookmark. But noooo…some folks out here all willy nilly, marking up their books like it doesn’t even matter.
I have very big feelings about bookmarks. I’m not even all that sure why, but I do. Gotta love the joy of a unique placeholder smack dab in the middle of a glorious book.
Linda hosts Stream of Consciousness Saturday. This week’s prompt is “bookmark.” Use as a noun, use it as a verb, use it way you’d like. Have fun!

I love this! I got a chuckle, only because I must admit that regardless of how many bookmarks, post-it notes, or otherwise, I will still on occasion fold a corner. I know, I know! I should be jailed! I shall try better in the future 🙂

Okay, so jail may be a little harsh…though I’ll admit my soul cringed a bit at the folded corner piece. It’s gotta be some sort of weird glitch on my part. 🤣

Never would I ever turn down the corner of a page in a book. My mother made sure to teach us that. The horror!

I get them from the library that have been ‘vandalized’ like that all the time –

Very true Laura. A book mark saves the book from disfiguring

I feel that to my core. Maybe because we only borrowed books from the library growing up so they weren’t technically mine? I don’t know, though, I don’t think I could have done it to my own either.

When younger, I’d often fold the corner of a page but I realized that it was spoiling the book so I use a book mark
