“In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.”
– Alice Walker
Linda hosts One-Liner Wednesday. Check out her blog for the rules and to see who else is participating this week.
A perfect quote and perfect photos to go with it. I might borrow this for Thursday Tree Love.

Nice! I do love contorted trees as they make walking along a trail or through the woods more interesting.

I love this, too. There’ve been a few times I’ve walked beneath a canopy of trees and seeing how they’re intertwined overhead is just fascinating.

Laura, Alice Walker is a wise person. Just like nature, people are imperfect. This is superficial, but my wife and I comment how an actor, newscaster, game show contestant, etc. looks better because their facial features have a minor flaw. I am reminded of Jennifer Gray, who was in “Dirty Dancing,” feeling the need to fix her nose. When she did, she looked like other actresses and gave away a charming feature and countenance, and her career waned. The more beautiful trees are the ones that don’t look like the others and standout. Keith

Absolutely true. We’re taught to scrutinize ourselves to every flaw, any tiny little thing that isn’t “perfect”. I see my daughter doing this now and try so hard to help her reframe the narrative. I want her to love all of her individual traits.

Good advice to your daughter. Women and girls get hit from every direction on how they should look.
