1.  We have an announcement. Drumroll please.

2.  THERE IS AN ACTUAL GRADUATION DRESS IN OUR POSSESSION.

3.  Pause here for riotous applause. Read here if you have no idea what I’m talking about.

4.  This is a damn good thing considering we’re two weeks out from graduation and I have no idea if they’d let her walk without one.

5.  Without the unicorn white dress, that is, not if they’d let her walk naked.

6.  If they’re worried about that I’d say they don’t know us well enough. Then again, they might sense my Burn It All To The Ground energy.

7.  But let’s not go down that rabbit hole.

8.  Instead we’ll celebrate that in this house at this very moment there is a “white” white dress with appropriate straps that is knee length and neither see through nor I’ll see you at the club-esque.

9.  Will wonders never cease.

10.  I should buy a lotto ticket.

11.  I guess I also have to decide what I’ll be wearing but when I say that’s so far down my priority list…

12.  Our girl had her last academic day of high school yesterday.

13.  Today is field day and next week is their experiential learning week.

14.  Some kids travel, some do project based learning at the school, then everyone gathers back up next Friday for an end of year wrap up.

15.  More details on that to come. Possibly. Y’all might not be interested and who could blame you.

16.  Now for the requisite parent stuff.

17.  How could she possibly be graduating?  What on earth happened?!!

18.  I thought at some point that whole “the days are long but the years are short” saying would become less applicable.

19.  Turns out not so much.

20.  For my empty nesters: does this bone deep exhaustion ever ease up? Or is this here for life?

21.  Just wondering.

22.  Yesterday was one year since we lost Phoebe.

23.  Just saying that May is a freaking dumpster fire yet every year I head into it thinking maybe this is the one I’ll make it through…

24.  Don’t know if that’s perseverance or stupidity but there it is.

25.  MAY 17! WE’RE MORE THAN HALFWAY THERE, BABY!!

26.  Sometimes I look up to a deer walking by the yard and think oh, cool, a healing heart sign.

27.  If you know you know.

28.  Which brings me to this. I adore all of you, I really do. Please don’t come at me with don’t wish the time away, you’ll want it back someday.

29.  I’m not so much wishing the time away as wishing the crazy in May would lift.

30.  Different thing altogether.

31.  So we replaced the calendar corner in our kitchen with a hutch cabinet and I have some thoughts.

32.  The extra kitchen storage is nice. I’ve moved a couple of small appliances off the counters and that’s a perk.

33.  I don’t love lugging my unreasonably heavy food processor out of the lower cabinet when I want to use it and boy oh boy does that sound like a snotty first world problem.

34.  But the big question is do I miss the calendar?

35.  Kinda, yeah. That’s hard to admit because I went so hard for removing it.

36.  I think it was a security blanket thing. I finally caved and printed a family calendar to post on the fridge.

37.  It means I have to walk alllll the way across the room if I need to reference it…

38.  Bwahahahahaha!!! Just a little first world humor there.

39.  It gives me a good overview when I’m making an appointment with someone on the phone.

40.  Maybe it’s a smaller security blanket too, who knows. Baby steps.
