I was never a big fan of Peter Pan.

I mean the dog was adorable and Tinker Bell was cute but the eldest sister vibes were vibing and those boys were a wee bit annoying. But Captain Hook? Nope nope nopity nope.

First of all, the hook was terrifying. Why would you scare children so much that seeing someone in real life without a hand made you scrinch up in fear? (Y’all get the meaning of scrinch, right? Because it’s the first thing that popped into my head and then there was no getting rid of it.) In our tiny, underdeveloped brains it turned every veteran with a prosthetic into a scary bad guy and that’s kind of crappy.

Captain Hook’s overall demeanor didn’t help. All the scary, all the KILL THEM…the destroyer of childhood delight and goodness. I mean, I know he’s the bad guy and all, it’s just a little over the top.

Then again, I was pretty traumatized by Lord of the Flies so I might not be the best judge of this.
