John Holton is our host for Writer’s Workshop. Here are the prompts for 11/13/25:
- Write a post inspired by the word convert.
- Write a post in exactly 11 (eleven) sentences.
- Write a story ending with the line “Let’s all be unique together until we realize we are all the same.“
- Tell us about a “wrong number” phone call, either one where someone called you or where you called someone in error.
- Write about a time your pet caused chaos.
- Share something that made you think this week.
I find this prompt absolutely hilarious. Because pets by their very nature cause chaos? Well, sure, but mostly because we had a dog so chaotic she had her own tag on the blog. When you search “Gracie” 282 posts pop up. TWO HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-TWO. Bless.
This post shares the background story of the one and only dog we raised from puppyhood. In retrospect the Real World: Gracie quip really hit the nail on the head.
For a while I used to drop Gracie posts detailing her most recent gastric adventures. This little gem right here reminded me of that glorious time our delightful golden vomited fluorescent yellow highlighter across the bedroom carpet. Good times, man…good times.
So I guess my capsule summary response would be…
This is Gracie. She lived far longer than her hijinks should have permitted and caused more trouble than one could reasonably expect her to survive. She was a super special snuffleupagus snowflake who lived to eat and get loved on. Tales of her digestive exploits were the stuff of legends, and while I’ve tried my best to immortalize her through the blog I fear that unhinged behavior makes Gracie’s exploits almost comically unbelievable.

“Digestive exploits”…. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

It was always fun to hear of Gracie’s escapades, and to worry about her when she ate something she shouldn’t. We miss her, too. Such a character. ❤

She was full of adventure. Not a mean bone in her (if you don’t count a violent disregard for financial weight of her vet bills 😂).

She was a special girl. Can’t believe we’re heading into our first holiday gathering where I don’t have to figure out how to keep her from stealing people’s food.
