Welcome back to Dan’s photo challenge. This week’s prompt continues a series related to the thought of inventions and gizmos. You can check out Dan’s photos at his weekly prompt post here.
This week’s theme is Workstations.
My teacher days were back in the dark ages before digital cameras so those work spaces are left to your imagination. For the most part I was in elementary schools, though, so you can pretty much imagine it — bulletin boards, classroom libraries, a prominent calendar, some inspirational posters stuck to cinder block walls with what we called sticky tack (I think I’ve seen it called mounting putty lately), and a teacher desk overflowing with piles of “please for the love of all things holy don’t forget to do this” stuff. It was colorful chaos most days.
Once the kids came home that became my central workspace. These first few photos — kitchen table, blue recliner, and sofa — are of places where so much work has been done in all of our homes. Creative work, homework, research, shopping, bills, healthcare, insurance issues, and on and on and on. All the things that make a life get handled inside these walls.
But outside the walls were some workspaces too. Ones where the kids learned things like birds will absolutely fly away if you try to touch them, and I learned things like it doesn’t all have to get done right now, stop worrying about the grocery list and just enjoy the sun on your face.

Beautiful photos ❤️

I love all the photos Laura, especially the Cat enjoying the ladies football, the dog giving you the ‘sad-eye’ and the kids preparing to race each other 😎👍

Thank you! I could only watch the World Cup on my laptop that year — I’m surprised the cat stayed through all the yelling.😂 And that sad eye dog? She was mad because I was writing on the laptop instead of cuddling with her. 🤣🤣

It happens. As a SAH- Mom feels weird now that my kids are grown (though at college age there’s still plenty of parenting). Anyway, most days it feels like my whole house is a workstation. 🤣

Great spaces. Kids learn a lot playing in the driveway. Good to see Gracie again.

Thanks, Dan. I was happy to find this photo of Gracie on the couch. Those huge eyes were so expressive.
