John Holton is our host for Writer’s Workshop. Here are this week’s prompts:
- Write a post inspired by the prompt taxes.
- Write a post in exactly 7 sentences.
- Write about the last person you had contact with.
- You find an old oil lamp. You start to shine it, out pops a genie, and grants you three wishes (none of which can be “more wishes”). What are they?
- Write about one of your daily routines.
- What do you think is the most important skill to know?
One of my daily routines? Well, not to make you guys jealous of my posh life but that would be…wait for it…scooping litter boxes.
SO GLAMOROUS, I know.
Every day at lunchtime I get the kitties set up with their midday treat — that’s when they get canned food and let me tell you, they practically prance with joy coming to that meal. They get their lick mats put down with delicious, squishy, smelly (I can hear BrightSide gagging a little here) cat food laid out for their delight. While they’re enjoying their spoils, I’m making the rounds scooping litter boxes.
That’s right, every day part of my lunchtime routine is spiriting away all evidence of cat pee and poop. It’s a win/win, really. I get the joy of not having a smelly litter box sitting around, and the cats have the joy of a brand new space to mark up with (you guessed it) new pee and poop.
And the world keeps on turning.

the life of a queen! and I get it, having two indoor cats
