Welcome back to Dan’s photo challenge. You can read Dan’s prompt post here as well as check out his own photos for the week.
This week’s prompt is “Nostalgia.”
We’ll start with when T-man and Bear were wee ones. You know, the days that felt like they lasted forever but now seem like they just happened last week. The time warp with raising kids is wild.
This playground is near BrightSide’s parents’ house and was the scene of many playful hours for our kids. A little bit of ack, it’s too hot or yikes, there’s a bee but overall it was mostly joyful play.
I like how in this photo I’m looking at my sister like she’s the coolest girl in the world. Which turned out to be accurate because she is indeed the coolest girl in the world.
I love these photos of BrightSide as a new dad. He’s amazing, you guys. He put his whole heart and soul out there to build a family celebrating love and kindness. It’s the goal and he hit it out of the park.
You knew I couldn’t do a nostalgia post without including the fur babies. Our dogs Gracie and Phoebe were the very definition of thick as thieves, except Gracie’s shenanigans stressed Phoebe out so much she always told on her. Phoebe (the lab) was our cat dog; she was endlessly patient with critters in their kitten stages. Turns out Gracie (the golden retriever) was built for grown cats. She patiently endured Mittens’ endless obsession with scrubbing up against her.

time does go so fast, but hopefully the memories last. Beautiful photos

I guess I’ve been following you for while, I remember when your kids were kids and I remember Gracie and Phoebe. I know they were sometimes too close for comfort, but I loved hearing about Gracie’s antics. It seemed like that dog would eat anything.

She really would. 😂🤣 Seven has stepped up his game since we lost Gracie. That cat will eat Doritos, for Pete’s sake!

My daughter had a cat like that. She had two cats for a long time. One liked the crinkly sound and would play with the bag until it fell off the table. The other would eat what was in the bag.

Terrific photos, Laura. I agree with you that the time went way too fast.

Thank you, John. When they were little and people would say “the days are long, the years are short” I honestly just wanted to punch them in the nose but they were right. It was just hard to hear when I was in the trenches raising young kids.

I remember that saying, too. You would stand with red-rimmed eyes from a lack of sleep and try to say something intellegent. Usually, it came out like, “Uh HUH.”

Isn’t that amazing? Sometimes the hard memories blip through but these are the ones that sit front and center for me.
